DDNA Nurse Member Seeking Information:

“We want to implement Animal-Assisted Activities and Interventions for our Day Habilitation program. I know the pet handlers will carry liability insurance provided by their registering organization but I wanted to know how other programs are handling additional coverage for their own agency. We have asked to be listed as an additional insured by Pet Partners but then they want us to sign a statement of indemnification thus leaving them harmless. We have been unable to find an insurance company willing to underwrite a liability policy for pet therapy. Does anyone with a pet therapy program have a specific policy to protect the agency? How are other agencies handling this? Thank you in advance for your help!”
