Conference Poster Sessions
Interested in presenting a poster session?
Have you developed effective education or service programs for staff, clients with IDD and/or their families? Have you found other innovative ways to improve the care of persons with IDD? Have you conducted research in IDD nursing? Do you want to share your findings or what you have developed with other IDD nurses? A poster session at the annual conference can be an excellent way to do this. Posters will be accepted in two categories: Research in Developmental Disabilities Nursing and Staff/Client/Family Education Resources or Programs. A poster session is a way to present information that can be shared in a relatively short time frame, e.g., 5 -10 minutes. It is also a great opportunity to inform other nurses without having to speak in front of a large audience. You prepare your poster, which is displayed at the conference. Conference attendees can read what you have written on your poster and, at select times during the conference, you stand by your poster to answer questions. It’s as easy as that!
Your poster will be displayed on a table top. To make your travel to the conference easier, DDNA will provide you with a free white tri-fold corrugated display board that opens to 36″ by 48″. These display boards will be available at the conference registration booth. This way you just need to bring the text and graphics for your poster and assemble it at the conference. Please note: you must request a display board from DDNA no less than two weeks prior to the conference, so that DDNA can order the correct amount of materials needed.
Poster presenters are expected to register and pay for the conference and assume all arrangements and costs related to the poster session.
Please note: The poster session is for non-commercial educational resources and programs only. If you have staff/client/family education resources or programs for sale, please contact DDNA about obtaining an exhibitor table for your products.
CDDNs and DDCs who present a research or education poster session at the conference will get 3 hours of educational credit toward their recertification.
Chapter/Network poster presentations
One of the challenges that we always face at conferences is limited time – there is not enough time for everyone to share about their chapter/network activities, challenges, and successes. The poster presentation will give each chapter/network a chance to share information with all conference attendees, and offer network members an opportunity to learn from each other. We hope that every network will participate in the poster presentation session! A poster session is a way to present your chapter/network information, You prepare your poster, which is displayed at the conference. Conference attendees can read what you have written on your poster and, at select times during the conference, you stand by your poster to answer questions. It’s as easy as that!
To register for the Chapter/Network poster presentation, download the Chapter/Network poster presentation form and email or fax to DDNA.
The review process
The Conference Committee will review your submission based on the following criteria:
- clarity of description of the content and presentation methods
- importance, depth, focus, and level of audience interest
- presenter’s professional background
- absence of commercial content
- originality of topic/presentation (e.g., has not been presented at other DD nursing conferences)
The review process does not apply to the Chapter/Network posters.
