To all –

Many of us are aware that yet another tragic event occurred days ago when an individual took the lives of 11 worshipers in the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pa.  It is difficult to comprehend these wanton acts of violence that seem to play out far too frequently.

This specific senseless act touched many of us on an even deeper level when we learned that two of the victims, brothers Cecil and David Rosenthal, were among those who lost their lives.  The Rosenthal brothers, long-time worshippers at the Tree of Life and active in their community, were both individuals with IDD.

As communities across our nation take a moment to remember all of those taken from us, let each of us in the field of IDD services remember those we have lost and keep their loved ones and communities in our thoughts and prayers.

We offer our deepest heartfelt sympathies to the Rosenthal family, the Tree of Life Synagogue, and the greater Pittsburgh community.
